Welcome to Smalspåret Växjö-Västervik! Our railbike cycling and nostalgic train trips along the unique narrow-gauge railway between Växjö and Västervik offer unforgettable experiences for the whole family. Smalspåret is a nonprofit association founded in 1984 to preserve and develop this historic railway—over 120 kilometers are operated today by passionate volunteers. You can railbike on four fascinating routes: Hultsfred–Målilla (22 km), Flaten–Gårdveda (12 km), Virserum–Åseda (53 km), and Åseda–Virserum (53 km). The starting points are beautiful, well-preserved station environments featuring classic waiting rooms and stations restored in the style of the 1950s and 60s, with easy access to parking and cafés. Each railbike seats two adults, and there are rest stops with seating and outhouses along the railway—perfect for picnics, barbecues, nature experiences, and play. Beyond railbike cycling, we organize nostalgic train rides with coffee parties aboard our railbus, where you can enjoy seven kinds of cakes and soak up the historic atmosphere. Smalspåret has over 1,000 members supporting the railway’s preservation and our projects, including a railbus garage and museum hall.
